It is an exciting time when a teenager turns 15 years old and can at last start the process of obtaining their driver’s license. Parents must assist with some easy steps that will ensure their son or daughter is awarded this highly valued certificate. After completing basic “physical” maintenance, like going to the local Flint eye physician or Flint vision care center to make sure their eyesight is working properly, parents will need to follow the steps below to have a successful experience with their new driver.
First and foremost, a parent will need to be honest with themselves and with their child about when they think their child is mature enough and responsible enough to drive. Some teenagers are totally ready at 15 to get behind the wheel of a car and begin the process of learning to drive. Others, however, might require a tiny growing up to do before assuming this responsibility. It is imperative for the parent to know which category their teen falls. By controlling the begin date of the entire process, a parent will be doing themselves and their child a lot of good in the long run.
Once a parent has concurred to beginning the process, they have to then find an qualified drivers’ school. Most major cities have a couple choices to select from for drivers’ education. These school begin with the bookwork that needs to be studied and memorized prior to getting behind the wheel of a automobile. This bookwork includes learning text book driving scenarios, descriptions on how to drive a vehicle and all the rules and regulations for driving. This text book learning will help a teenager prepare for the written portion of their driver’s test. It is this test that must be taken and passed prior to doing the driving portion of the driver’s exam. It is extremely beneficial for a new driver not only pass this exam, but also understand and remember all of the regulations while driving.
The second huge advantage to driving schools is the actual driving instruction a teenager receives. Often times a teenager won’t listen to the parents and will want to do things by themselves and in their own way. Having an actual stranger instruct them eliminates the disagreeing, arguing and complaining that can occur between parents and their teens. Also, it is helpful to get the use of the driving school’s car while a teen is being taught to drive (especially if learning to operate a stick shift). Having the right to use another car reduces the wear and tear on the parent’s car. By using someone else’s automobile and having someone else instruct a teen to drive, this whole procedure can be enjoyable and successful for both the new driver and their parents.
After the completion of driver’s school, the next step in the process is to take the say exam. Once a teen passes the written test, they’ll be awarded a temporary permit to drive for six months. At the conclusion of these 6 months, they’ll take the driving portion of the test. Once they pass this, they will be awarded their driver’s license.
