Acid Reflux can cause a person’s throat to become very sore. This is caused by the stomach acid traveling up to the lungs and the esophagus. The acid can become blended with saliva and affect the throat, sometimes causing voice loss.

Another way acid reflux disease can affect the voice is through causing shortness of breath, limiting the the amount of air available, and impacting a person’s ability to talk. This lack of air strains the vocal cords, and over time, they can become damaged. Your voice will either become thin and barely audible or it will become deeper.
